Lemon!
The fruit of so many uses.
I love having a bit of lemon squeezed into a cup of hot water.
Why? (besides being such an easy concoction)
Let me share 5 reasons:
Helps you stay hydrated
Most of us don’t drink enough water. A daily lemon water habit is an easy way to develop the habit to get water into your body!
Aids in digestion
The acid in lemons may be especially helpful in supplementing stomach acid levels, which tend to decline as we age.
Supplies a dose of Vitamin C
When you squeeze half a lemon into your water, you’ll get more than a sixth of your daily vitamin C: That helps protect us from cell damage and repair injury
Provides a potassium boost
Potassium is necessary for nerve-muscle communication, transporting nutrients and waste and blood pressure regulation.
Contains great antioxidant properties
Lemons contain phytonutrients which have powerful antioxidant properties:which protect your body against disease.
So if you’re wanting to incorporate a healthy practice into your dietary lifestyle, try a cup of hot water (or cool water) and lemon.
It’s a lovely (and healthy!) alternative to a cup of tea or coffee at any time of the day.
