Afternoon Tea: GOLDEN MILK

Here we are in spring! Yet, it still feels like winter and I tend to reach out for something warm and comforting.

I don’t know about you, but sometimes i get a bit tired of the standard rotation of warm drinks: coffee, tea, hot chocolate.

I love golden milk: it’s an easy and quick alternative and its sooooo good for you.

Here’s a sweet snapshot of my afternoon concoction:

 
 

THE RECIPE

This takes about 5 minutes to make:

1 cup of almond milk

1 teaspoon of ground tumeric

1/2 teaspoon of honey

1/4 teaspoon of black pepper

1/4 teaspoon of nutmeg

dash of cinnamon

Heat all the ingredients in a saucepan for about 5 minutes. Pour in a cup and add the nutmeg and cinnamon to finish it off!

 

How to use turmeric?

It helps to consume it with black pepper which contains piperine. Piperine is a natural substance that enhances the absorption of curcumin.

Curcumin is also fat soluble, which means it breaks down and dissolves in fat or oil.

WHAT ARE THE PERKS OF TURMERIC?

Turmeric — and especially its most active compound, curcumin — have many scientifically proven health benefits.

Turmeric is a natural anti-inflammatory and increases your body’s antioxidant capacity.

Curcumin may help reverse many steps in the heart disease process.
