ABOUT VALERIE PERSHAD, MD

FOUNDER OF VITAL VALENCE

Valerie obtained her medical degree at George Washington University where she was first introduced to integrative modalities in medicine. She completed her internal medicine residency at the Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell Residency Program in New York City. She became board certified in internal medicine and practiced for several years. Valerie revisited her interests in nutrition and wellness by attending conferences hosted by the Center for Mind Body Medicine. Became certified as a functional medicine specialist with the Institute for Functional Medicine. Became a certified health and wellness coach with the Institute for Integrative Nutrition.

After years of practicing medicine, she has encountered numerous patients with both acute and chronic presentations of various medical conditions. The more patient encounters she came across, Valerie found that most of the conditions could have been prevented if certain lifestyle modifications were taken. She also realized that behavior change was key to long-lasting change.  Valerie’s vision to help others shifted from treating patients with chronic conditions to helping patients take a preventative approach. She also realized that a lot of her colleagues and friends were experiencing difficulties and challenges in maintaining healthy and sustainable lifestyles. Valerie decided to shift her focus beyond the scope of patients. She also wanted to extend her knowledge and expertise to guide others like herself (professional women) to lead fulfilling lives.

Valerie’s goal is to guide women to think better, to develop self-awareness, and to make thoughtful decisions for themselves that are in line with their values and their priorities. Her vision is to provide individualized coaching for women who want to achieve a meaningful and sustainable lifestyle.
