Bring It On Holiday Season, I'm Being Healthy
Hey!
We are well in the swing of the holidays! I hope it’s off to a great start for you.
And we all know about the holidays: we’re spending time with friends and family having get-togethers with drama and delicious food sprinkled all on top!
I’ll tell you, I went in on the delicious grub and I enjoyed it. Perhaps my first year NOT thinking “Oh man, I gotta work this food off.”
So you must be wondering: “WTH Val?! That doesn’t sound like real life.”
Well, honestly your diet is only as real as your approach.
There are some basic tips I follow to ensure I keep up with a healthier lifestyle during the holidays.
Nutritious tips I keep in mind:
I ensure I eat enough protein: Protein is a building block for heathy body cells and tissues.
I eat unrefined carbs and avoid products that are mostly flour and sugar. I focus more on veggies, fruits, and whole grains.
I choose healthy fats: Our body needs it because it supplies us with vital energy (not to mention protects our organs).
(I keep these food groups well balanced throughout the day.)
Last but not least: Hydrate! I need it, you need it. It’s essential for our bodies to function. Keep that in mind as you may participate in the holiday drinking!
With all the good eats and drinks, you’ll be sure to enter the food coma stage at one point. I know I’m not the only one who loves to snuggle up on the couch after a great meal.
So here’s a movement tip:
Whether it’s by yourself or with those you love, find ways to move your body in ways you enjoy!
It’ll be challenge, but don’t be too hard on yourself. It’s ok to be off track on your goals and then get back on again.
